#1 Benefit of the Document Camera

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

The number one benefit of the document camera is the student-teacher connection that it helps to create. Raise your hand 🙋‍♀️ if you agree that our students are connected to too much technology right now. Technology is an amazing part of school and learning. It prepares kids for their future for sure, but lately, teachers have come to me who have felt that they’re starting to be replaced by technology.

Maybe, they are bouncing from website to website for resources with their students or always searching for that next resource. I teach tutors and teachers how to look in their bookcase for their resources. What I have found is that we need to rethink how we use technology to improve the student-teacher connection. This is why I love the document camera so much!

Here are some more reasons:

1. You use the same materials that you would use if you were teaching right next to the student. This benefits the student because it keeps consistency with what they have already been learning and how they’ve been learning it. Click HERE for this week's free activity download. I hope you and your students enjoy it. Comment below 👇 and tell me how you like it.

2. It is easy to model and have spontaneous teachable moments, and you avoid running around on the internet trying to find that perfect resource while you’re in the middle of your lesson.

3. This is probably going to sound silly, but it’s one of the most important parts. Students can see our hands under the document camera. This allows students to see us in the video and see our hands. It gives a connection and an engagement factor may be lost when we are just using websites. There’s the ability to refocus students and gain back their attention.

If you want to see a full demo of the document camera, make sure you join the FREE webinar on November 11. Register HERE for the 8 Am EST session and HERE for the 12 PM EST session.

I will be talking about all of the amazing features of the document camera, different things you can do under the document camera, why you might want to change the document camera you are using, and how it can transform your lesson.

If you’re an online tutor, you’re not going to want to miss this!

Have a great week!

Michelle
